Voice Learn V1

Voice Learn V1 has been released on App Store and soon it will be on playstore.

Motivation

Around 1 year ago, I started learning German just to kill my time. I, like everyone else, started with Duolingo. The Duolingo felt more like an app to make me remember words and its meaning in english(or whatever language you chose) instead of telling me how the words and sentences are formed. Duolingo surely is addictive due to its gamified approach but it is only good to start a language and get a basic knowledge of it. It also lacks feature such as practicing like chats, community feedback, speaking etc.

I started working on Voice Learn just as a project in April, 2024. The first version with basic features such as Voice Chat and Chats was done in May. Someone from Nextjs discord server motivated me to share the app with the community. I made some changes and shared an ugly looking website with the community and got some feedback. I then decided to make it a mobile app for both android and app store just for fun and also add some learning elements alongside its original idea.

This app is the most expensive side project I ever built.

Features

Voice Learn currently allows you to choose a language to learn out of 55(thanks to AI). You choose a language, complete some exercises and get emeralds as rewards which you can exchange in shop for Voice Credits to voice chat with AI(you get 10 of those for free).

Modules

Above screenshots shows the modules the app generates. The content of the app is unique to you. Each module has n lessons shown in the front of the module name.

Lessons

Each module has many lessons and each lesson has many questions. You can complete those questions to get Emeralds and XP.

Questions

The question can be of 3 types: Sentence, Fill in the blank and Select one. That is for you to explore :)

Streaks

Complete a lesson every day to maintain a streak.

Shop

Trade your emeralds for voice credits or buy more emeralds(I also need some money to pay openai and other providers).

Recall

Found some hard words while doing questions or while chatting? No worries, long press them and create a recall note to recall them later. Create stacks to stack the notes.

Leaderboard

Earn XP and ace the Leaderboard(rewards and other things coming soon™️)

Future Plans

The app will continue to get updates as long as I can afford it(I already paid for 1 year of developer account for ios so atleast for a year).
